Garden boxes – Monthly Recurring Contribution

Seven out of ten children in rural Guatemala are malnourished, affecting both their physical growth and mental development. Similar malnutrition rates exist across rural Africa. In these areas, square foot gardening in raised garden boxes helps families sustainably improve their nutrition and allows children to thrive.  With proper nutrition, mental development stays on track and education becomes more attainable, impacting families and communities for generations.  With a proven “learn and earn” approach, families learn gardening, nutrition, and basic business concepts to earn their own garden box and become self-sufficient.  As families become more and more successful with box gardening and are able to grow more than they need, they are able to sell the excess and use the income to provide other necessities. Not only does this model improve malnutrition, education, and self-reliance, learning how to grow food for their families empowers them with hope, confidence, and a desire to learn more.
